Captured live from The Old Vic in London, Present Laughter is a giddy and surprisingly modern reflection on fame, desire and loneliness.  As he prepares to embark on an overseas tour, star actor Garry Essendine’s colourful life is in danger of spiralling out of control. Engulfed by an escalating identity crisis as his many and various relationships compete for his attention, Garry’s few remaining days at home are a chaotic whirlwind of love, sex, panic and soul-searching. Victorian Christmas Fayre, Melton Mowbray 29 Nov – 1 Dec

The Victorian Christmas Fayre returns to Melton. Enjoy a slice of Dickensian Britain with victorian stalls, street urchins, stilt walkers, street theatre, choirs, Punch and Judy, Brass Bands and more. Melton Town Centre. Don’t miss the Festival of Cribs, the Festival of Wreaths and the St Mary’s Christmas Tree Festival, which will also be going on over the weekend (a small charge may apply). Fri and Sat 10am – 8pm (Fri there is a fireworks display) and Sun 1 Dec, 10-4pm.

Christmas Fayre Bosworth Battlefield, 29 Nov

Join us for a very festive marked in the Tithe Barn cafe, Heritage Room cabins and around the site. We have a range of artisan, Boutique style homeware, gift and homemade craft stalls in attendance. You can also pay a visit to Santa in his grotto. Free entry, Santa’s grotto £3.

Bosworth Battlefield

Christmas Wreath Making Workshop, Freckles, Loughborough, 28 Nov and 1 Dec

This cutesy lifestyle store is a great place to visit and if you love making wreaths, good news, they’re hosting a few. Bright, spacious and super friendly the gift and coffee shop is run by Yolyn who is teaming up with Justine Baxter from Fern and Grace who will be guiding you through the evening and teaching you everything you need to know to create the most beautiful wreath to take home. All refreshments on the evening will be provided including a complementary glass of prosecco to get you in the festive spirit. 28 Nov  6.30-9pm and 1 Dec 2- 4.30pm. £45.

 

Winter Wonderlights, Great Central Railway until 30 Dec

The new Winter Wonderlights experience is a train ride like no other. Jump on the steam train with a magical twist, fantastically dressed in a myriad of lights. Watch from the train as the nearby countryside is illuminated by a spectacular lighting display. The vintage steam locomotives and carriages transformed into a spectacle that’s not to be missed. £19 adults and £12 kids.

Melton Mowbray Christmas Weekend: Christmas Lights Switch on Event, 29 Nov

Entertainment starts at 9:00am with local live performances from schools, choirs, bands and local artists. Santa’s Grotto from 4-7pm, Victorian Market. street entertainment late night shopping and firework spectacular. Light switch on at 6.45pm with the cast from Melton Theatre’s Christmas Pantomine. Free parking in the long stay car parks on Burton Street, Mill Street and Scalford Road.
