Just because we’re stuck at home it doesn’t mean we can’t rustle up a bit of glamour. Ignore your greying temples (I mean, seriously, is there anywhere in this county still selling hair dye?) and your waxing dilemmas, and take solace in silk.
Luxe PJs company Sleepy Wilson ticks all the ethical, style and indie business boxes, and at the moment we can all enjoy it even more as there’s a slinky 30% off. Lord knows we can all do with a bit of discount at mo, right?
So what’s the fuss about, aside from the languorously cool name? Well, Sleepy Wilson is a range of luxury silk pyjamas for women and kids that launched in Kent last year by husband and wife team Paula and Tom Wilson. Made from the highest grade 19mm silk, a renewable, biodegradable material, the PJs are ethical, sustainable and also super-gorgeous in vibrant, colours and patterns – I’m totally lusting after the sunflower PJs with black piping (above).
Juggling family, children and setting up a full-time business, the couple started the company in response to their son’s eczema and hot, sweaty nights spent reacting to the synthetic fibres in high street PJs.
With a background in fashion product development, they’ve created a high-end range of luxury PJs for women as well as a kids range, though frankly there’s no way I’d pay for my motley, messy, clumsy crew to be kitted out in silk when it could be much better spent on moi.
Silk PJs might feel a bit hard to justify right now, but before lockdown (remember back then?), front row fashion editors were replacing their cotton casuals with silk sleepwear for all-day comfort dressing – think a stripy shirt into your favourite jeans or slinky PJ trousers with an oversized knit or cashmere sweater. So your PJs will have a life well beyond your four walls by the end of summer.
