Pitch perfect!

Fancy getting back to nature in the heart of the glorious British countryside? Switch off by settling down for a few days in beautiful rural surroundings, in one of these hassle-free, family-friendly glamping sites ready for your arrival.

Country Bumpkin Yurts, Great Oxenden

Bed down in an enchanting Mongolian Yurt at Waterloo Cottage Farm. Lara and Jenny run the site from Waterloo Cottage Farm and have thought of absolutely everything to make you feel right at home.

Choose from three luxury yurts which have been decorated with bunting, fairy lights and shabby chic touches. Each yurt is based on a wooden platform and inside you can sleep under the stars and enjoy the views from the roof window while you unwind in your lush surroundings. Traditionally used a nomadic shelter by tribes from the near East and Central Asia, Country Bumpkin Yurts have built upon this idea and added a touch of luxury.

This eco-friendly site also offers the chance to unwind in one of their hot tubs. Made from Spruce wood, the hot tubs are heated using sustainable wood sourced locally company. After enjoying a tipple in the tub, there’s plenty to do on, and off the farm; get involved in fruit picking and garden activities, food making courses, wine tasting there’s even the chance to make your own candles as well as the chance to meet the little piglets, cows and lambs which the mudlets will love. The Canvas Café is opening on site soon and will be the perfect place to enjoy afternoon tea as well as local and seasonal food.

Country Bumpkin also offer a range of bespoke foodie baskets, romantic hampers, afternoon tea and even BBQ hampers ready for your arrival or delivered at your request. The yurts can sleep between 2-6 people and prices start from £110 a night for two.

Waterloo Cottage Farm, Country Bumpkins, 34 Harborough Rd, Great Oxendon, Market Harborough LE16 8NA. Tel 07375 024 672.

In The Stix, Rutland

This cool 5-star glamping venture was started up by husband and wife team, Alex Cowie and Darren Blackwell a little over a year ago. In the Stix is all about getting back to nature so you can turn off your gadgets, tune into the great outdoors and get back to nature in this remarkable location.

You’ll feel part of the family here in no time and the owners really pull out all the stops to make sure your stay is as memorable as possible. Set in the heart of Rutland, In The Stix offers accommodation in unusual and unique spherical domes which give a fun, new twist to glamping.

Dotted around the campsite the four spacious domes have been designed with a little luxury in mind – think plush chesterfield sofas, king or super king size beds, en-suite bathrooms and private wood fired hot tubs perfect for a tipple or two! Each dome can accommodate between 4-6 people and come with a mezzanine level – great if you need the extra space.

Also on site you’ll find four fully-equipped private field kitchens which come with a gas hob and an impressive wood fired oven (handy if you want to make your own pizzas) and other little surprises. If you don’t fancy cooking, there’s a fab dog and family-friendly pub down the road which serves amazing food.

Once you’ve settled into your temporary home…or rather dome you can start exploring your surroundings. Next door is Greetham Valley Golf but if you want to venture slightly further afield, Rutland offers lots of activities for the entire family from walks, cycling, running, horse riding, to open water swimming, fishing and even sailing.

If you have kids in tow, there’s plenty to keep them entertained and don’t be too surprised if you see children climbing trees, making dens and making the most of the open green space – in fact, it’s very much encouraged here.

All linens and towels, pillows, duvets and additional blankets are included in the price – all you need to bring is your wellies and food! Price is based per dome, please contact In The Stix for pricing details.
