Bring a blankets and your picnics and enjoy some classic family films in the grounds of Leicester Racecourse. Enjoy three films for all the family over the course of one day on an outdoor LED screen. Watch Spielberg’s cult classic, The Goonies, The Jungle Book and UP. Adult Tickets will be required for anyone aged 16 or over. Child Tickets are for ages 2 to 15. Under 2’s are free.

Sci-fi Shorts Writing Workshop, National Space Centre, Sat 5 Aug
Create fantastic new worlds, heroes, and adventures in our upcoming Sci–Fi Story Writing Workshop. This workshop will also include a 30-minute guided tour of our crown jewel artefacts to get you inspired. Workshop led by our in-house team of space and sci–fi experts. Spaces are free but limited to the first 30 writers, so book quickly to avoid delay. Please note that this workshop does not include general entry to the National Space Centre so bring your ticket with you on the day. Book tickets here. Leicester Caribbean Carnival, Victoria Park, Sat 5 August
Bring your whistle and wear your loudest colours for at the annual Caribbean Carnival. Dance to the infectious soca beats and enjoy great food and music. Watch the carnival floats and the brilliant costumes parade though the city’s streets before heading back to Victoria Park where you can enjoy the rest of the festivities including musical performances and a children’s play area and a fun fair. Expect thousands of crowds as this is billed as one of the (if not the largest carnival in the east midlands). Entrance to the park is £3. Event starts at 11am and finishes at 8pm.
Family Picnic Day, Bradgate Park Sat 5 Aug
Expect a day of fun activities across the park and make a day of it, bring a picnic and join in the fun
from the paratroop teddy bear jump at Old John Tower to the launch of the New Mini Heritage Walks.
See the photographic exhibition of images of the Park from members of the Leicester Forest Photographic Society at the Deer Barn plus activities and displays from our Conservation Volunteers, Little Larks (forest schools) and other groups that help support the Park. Some extra surprises on the day. Bring a picnic and join a day celebrating what is everyone’s favourite Park. (Car parking charges apply of £4 for the day). Activities and events free to visit.

Marvel at our noble knights as they take on the ultimate medieval tournament. Swords will be wielded and helmets battered – who will reign supreme and become champion? Be inspired and become knights for the day, hone your skills for the battlefield.
