Learn to stitch, spin, knit and more while enjoying brat food, live demos and talks. This weekend event also includes a variety of workshops which are already selling fast. Make garlands, bright and colourful pom poms, a gingerbread cottage gift box, tote bags, a poppy corsage and more. Tickets for adults £9 and includes free parking and workshops starts from £10.00 inc all materials and the event opens at 10am.

Rutland Food and Drink Festival, until Sun 29 Oct

Foodie fans will be flocking to this event that highlights a variety of events and special offers around the county, including cookery demonstrations, food markets, workshops, themed menus and lots more. Stock up on local ingredients at Oakham Farmers Market on 21 Oct before concluding at the festival will Rutland Food & spills out from Oakham Castle and grounds onto the Market Place and down to The Victoria Hall. Expect to sample locally made bread, cakes, drinks, beer, cheese and much much more.

Ice cream fans will be excited to hear about this brand spanking new festival taking place in the city. Award-winning independent gelateria, Gelato Village, St Martin’s Square is hosting a three day festival showcasing authentic artisanal gelato. The theme of the festival will be ‘Getting to know gelato’ and has an aim of educating the UK audience about authentic artisanal gelato made from the best quality, natural ingredients and will also inlude workshops, talks and tastings. This event is free.

Inside Out Festival, Curve, until Sat 28 Oct

Celebrating the work of leading and emerging East Midlands’ artists this event includes a diverse range of performances, workshops and events that showcases leading theatre makers, artists, performers and writers from the region. Expect performances from Mia and the Moon,  and productions including Tarzana, Poet In Da Corner, Major Labia, Burning Books and more.

The Fancy Flower Shop Pumpkin Workshop, Quorn,  27 and 31 Oct

Taking place above the cosy flower shop, the ladies at The Fancy Flower Shop will talk you through how to make the best looking pumpkins in town. This intimate class shaw space for around 8 people so book early to avoid disappointment. Brings your friends or take the kids. Clases run from 1.30-3pm and cost £35 which includes the equipment and pumpkins.

Spooky Space, National Space Centre, Leicester until Sun 29 Oct

During the half term holidays the Spooky Science team have taken over the Space Centre. Join the team every day to discover The School of Science and Magic, make your very own slime to take home, take a seat and create your very own stained glass rocket to take home and drop in for various sessions that will have you spinning.
