The opening of the first in a series of exhibitions by Paul Gent and participants. Here, he presents a series of new drawings made alongside residents of Charnwood that explore place, participation and the act of sketching. Paul has helped produce a series of texts, structures and modes of display. Children are welcome to join in with their free family activity guide, aimed at 5yrs+, materials included. Opening day is Friday 11am-2pm and then after Wed- Sat 11am -5pm.

We all love a little bit of Ed Sheeran and now you can experience Sheeran’s life and music in a new music theatre production. Brought to you by one of the UK’s best tribute acts, they’ll be performing some of his most popular songs (basically all of them!), put together to tell a story, and each song will have its own unique performance. Film Club – Armageddon 20th Anniversary Screening, National Space Centre, Sat 12 May

It’s an all-time favourite film and we all know that tear-jerking scene when Bruce Willis saves the planet himself. Immerse yourself in the film at the National Space Centre where there will be a special 20th anniversary screening of the highest-grossing film of 1998, with classic music from Aerosmith. Forget the popcorn – get the tissues ready!

Farmers’ Market, Castle Donington Community Hub, Sat 12 May

Established in June 2002, the Castle Donington Farmers’ Market is managed by a group of enthusiastic volunteers. There’ll be plenty of stalls selling local, seasonal and quality products at competitive prices; cookery demonstrations by local chefs and entertainment. Pop along for a great community atmosphere. Runs every second Saturday of each month from 9:30am – 12:30pm

The Drifters, Loughborough Town Hall, Sat 12 May

The Drifters are back on the road with a brand new tour performing all the classic hits such as ‘Saturday Night At Movies’, ‘You’re ‘More Than A Number,’ ‘Come on Over to My Place’, ‘Up On The Roof,’ ‘Under the Boardwalk’, ‘Kissin In The Back Row’ and loads more! This legendary group have been inducted into the Rock & Roll of fame and listed among the greatest artists of all time by Rolling Stone magazine. Catch them at Loughborough Town Hall.

Leicester Vintage Carnival, Leicester Racecourse, Sat 12 May

For a nostalgic day out, head to Leicester’s Vintage Carnival at the Racecourse this Saturday! Enjoy endless entertainment and activities including an indoor and outdoor marketplace selling vintage clothing, collectables and crafts; street food, cakes, cocktails and ales; a display of classic cars for car enthusiasts and some good old-fashioned games for littles ones. It promises to be a real mix of vintage fun!
