Looking for some fun over the weekend and beyond? Well the Muddy Guide has got it covered. Singing barbers, lampshade workshops, a belly load of laughs at the theatre, and the mudlets have even got the chance to play zoo keeper for the day.
Sweeney Todd, Uppingham Theatre, 5-8 Apr
This musical thriller sees Benjamin Barker (Sweeney Todd) returns to the teeming slums of 19th century London after fifteen years’ exile for a crime he didn’t commit, to find his wife has poisoned herself. Tormented by grief and driven to avenge this terrible wrong, he sets up as a barber above a pie shop. What happens next…well you’ll have to get to the theatre to find out. Performances at 7.30pm and Saturday matinee at 2.30pm. Tickets priced £13-£14.

Conkers, 8-14 Apr
It’s all fun and games at Conkers this month. Head there over the weekend and enjoy a traditional Punch and Judy show. On Monday there will be an enchanted magical show, Tuesday sees the circus school open up and any budding scientists will want to go on Wednesday to see some live experiments plus there’s lots more. Book tickets but check out timings before you go.

Curve, We’re Going On A Bear Hunt, 11-15 Apr
Michael Rosen’s award-winning book is brought vividly and noisily to the stage in director Sally Cookson’s fun-filled adaptation set to Benji Bower’s versatile lively score. Join an intrepid family of adventurers and their musical dog on their quest to find a bear; as they wade through the gigantic swishy swashy grass, the splishy splashy river and the thick oozy, squelchy mud. Expect catchy songs, interactive scenes and plenty of hands on adventure – plus a few special surprises. Recommended age 3+.

Makers’ Yard, Lampshades workshop, Thur 13 Apr
Lilac Pearl Textiles will show you how make a 30cm drum lampshade from selected fabric. You’ll be using techniques such as fabric manipulation and suffolk puffs. Try your hand at decorating and embellishing the shade you’ve made. The course runs from 10am-1pm. All materials provided. Full day £40

Supersonic 70’s Show, Century Theatre, Fri 7 Apr
A fun live show jam-packed with classic 70s hits. This 6 piece live band, will take you back to a time when pop was at its peak. Led by Janey Bombshell and co-lead vocalist Mark Keen, the ‘velvet voiced’ singing sensation with the moves to match. Expect hits from Queen, The Osmonds, David Essex, and musical film hits from the likes of Grease and Saturday Night Fever. Tickets £16 in advance or £18.50 on the door and the performance starts at 7.30pm.

Lots of fun and exciting activities all themed around animals, wildlife, nature and zoos for your children to get involved in. The kids will have the chance to join in with various activities including arts and crafts, making enrichment (toys) for our animals, discovery sessions, giving heath checks to some of our friendlier animals, and cryptic trails around the zoo throughout the day. Suitable for 8-14 year olds, £85 per person per week, or £20 per person per day from 9-4.30pm.
