Pop-up Smokehouse, Leicester, Tues 19 June

You may remember a couple of years back that the Pop-Up Smokehouse was part of Obar. After a hiatus, the team have returned, and Tuesday sees them come back to Leicester, this time at The Globe. Following a successful run at The Rutland and Derby in April, you should definitely get yourself to The Globe on Tuesday night to taste some of the amazing smoked food.

The School for Scandal, Rutland Tues 19 – Sat 23 June

This week is the start of School for Scandal, one of the open air plays this year at the beautiful Tolethorpe Hall. The classic comedy by Richard Brinsley Sheridan is full of wit, fun and an engaging plotline. If you haven’t discovered this hidden treasure in Rutland, then perhaps now is the time to do so. The play is running throughout July and August as well, so there’s no excuses for not seeing this one!

Farmers Market, Hinckley, Thurs 21 June

Thursday seems to be a popular day for food markets. The monthly market in Hinckley gives you a chance to purchase some fine local produce and pick up some useful cooking tips from stallholders. Who knows, you might even be able to get some free samples too!

If you’re an arts and culture fan, then you’re going to love Art Beat festival, which is taking place across Clarendon Park. From crafts and music, to dance and drama, there’s a plethora of anything and everything creative to be enjoyed. The website lists all the events and where they are taking place, so there’s no need to panic about missing anything.

Food Fair, Market Harborough, Thurs 21 June

It’s the third Thursday of the month, and we all know what that means. The Market Harborough Food Fair is back! From 9am – 3pm, treat yourself to an array of fresh, artisan food. You can expect the likes of fresh bread, homemade cakes, vegan food and international street food. Delicious!

Plant and Bean Pop-up, Leicester, June 21 – Sun 24 June

Get ready for a vegan take over. Brand new dining experience, Plant and Bean are taking over the Fish and Chip Shop in Leicester city centre. Describing it as ‘Mindful plant based ingredients mixed with a whole family of worldly flavours’ you can expect dishes including battered salt rubbed cassava fries with pineapple and jerk sauce as well as  cauliflower corn nachos topped with a cacao and black bean tomato salsa, smashed avocado and pickled chillis. This has got my name written all over it! See you there.
