HISTORY: Findings of the 2019 Dig at Oakham Castle, Mon 15 July

In 2018-19, the team re-opened trenches started by Time Team in 2012 and have expanded our knowledge of the site and discovered new structures previously unknown. Catch up on the recent community archaeological dig in the grounds of Oakham Castle. Part of Leicestershire & Rutland Festival of Archaeology 2019. Tickets can be purchased in advance from Rutland County Museum, Oakham Castle  & Oakham Library or on the door. £4. From 7pm.

CULTURE: The Wonderful World of the Ladybird Book Artists, Leics, until 1 Sept

This exhibition for children of all ages reveals original artworks of the talented artists behind the iconic Ladybird books. Take a voyage of discovery through the book themes of history, science, nature and fairy tales as well as the world of Peter and Jane plus there’s lots of creative activities for the kids to get involved in obviously inspired by the art of Ladybird books.
