With a selection of different coloured leathers, threads and edge finishes to choose from, you can really customise your doggie project. Learn how to prepare the leather for stitching, wax the linen thread, and stitch your work, you can even personalise your project with letter stamps to make it unique. Age 16+ £49. 9.30am – 1.30pm

Outdoor Gallery at Ashby Arts Festival, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Mon 14 May
Ashby Arts Festival is back for another summer starting this week featuring local artists, musicians, song writers, poets, performers and story tellers. The festival also features an infamous giant outdoor gallery where huge paintings are displayed on many buildings around the town centre by local professional and amateur artists. National Garden Scheme – Open Garden, Bluebell Arboretum & Nursery, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Wed 16 May
As part of the National Garden Scheme, this private beautiful nine acre woodland garden is open for public viewing. Despite the name, this garden has more than just bluebells – it boasts a large collection of rare trees, shrubs and a range of spring flowers. Watch a complete alternative interpretation of Cinderella by Matthew Bourne – the internationally acclaimed choreographer, who transforms the classic fairy tale into a thrilling and evocative love story. Set in London during the Second World War, Cinderella meets her dashing young RAF pilot but the Blitz soon ends their magical encounter and separates them. Catch the performance to see if it’s a happy ending and quiz the choreographer himself in a live Q&A session after.
