Kids Floral Workshop, The Flower Plant, Sileby Tues 13 Aug
Looking for something creative and fun to do? Muddy Award Winner, The Flower Plant is once again hosting a fantastic kids, floral workshop between 3-5pm. Kids will get a chance to create their own Alphabloom initial (lush) and all material and kids refreshments included in the £20 price.

Rutland Bird Fair, Fri 16 – Sun 18 Aug
The event brings together all aspects of birdwatching from kit to holidays and also focuses on global conservation projects. There are numerous presentations (large and small) to cater for a variety of interests and views.
As always there will be the handful of birding ‘personalities’ around to sign books and give presentations on their favoured topic. Don’t forget your binoculars and catch up with the nesting Osprey as well as other summer migrants who use this area as their breeding grounds.

Indulge in the much-loved British tradition at its birthplace, Belvoir Castle, this summer. Alleged to have been invented by Anna Russell, Duchess of Bedford during a visit to the castle to see the 5th Duchess of Rutland in the mid-1840s. Tuck into tea at the castle in the tea room, or enjoy the new menu at whimsical Balloon Bar in the Engine Yard at Belvoir. The offer starts from £48 for two people and includes access to gardens. Afternoon tea in the bar includes a selection of scones, cream and jam, sandwiches and cakes, plus a pot of Duke’s tea and starts from £29 for two people.

Here’s the one we’ve been waiting for….new to Leicester this summer are the Gigs in the Gardens – a series of large-scale outdoor concerts in the beautiful surroundings of De Montfort Hall gardens. Expect to see Kaiser Chiefs, The Vaccines and The Twang, Years & Years and Jax Jones, Bugzy Malone, Pro Green , Groove Armada, Pete Tong, Wretch 32 and more over the weekend. How exciting!!
