Free tours Ashby de la Zouch Castle, Fri 1 Sept – Sun 17 Sep

Enjoy a free guided Tour at 12 noon during Hello Heritage fortnight. You’ll get the chance to cover the exciting history of the castle including the links to Ivanhoe and royalty not to mention how Ashby de la Zouch Castle grew in importance at the end of the Middle Ages and the beginning of the Tudor period. Tour lasts approx. 45 minutes and normal admission prices apply.

This annual LGBT festival celebrates equality and diversity in the community and is back for the year. Kicking off by Curve Theatre, the parade will then move through Humberstone Gate and up New Walk before finishing at Victoria Park at 1pm. The free event is for the whole family and there will be live music from the likes of X Factor’s Union J, Angie Brown, Blonde Electra, Lea Lambert and more. There will also be craft stalls, food, drink and fairground rides.

Heart of the Midlands Model Railway Exhibition, Loughborough Grammar School, Sat 2 – Sun 3 Sep 

The family-friendly exhibition organised by Soar Valley Model Railway Club is a great day out for everyone and this year will be even bigger. Now in its 33rd year the event will include over 30 quality layouts and 25 varied traders, demo stands, societies and clubs. There is a free Exhibition Guide included with entry why stocks last.

If you love your street food you can tuck into delicious vegan Mexican and Indian dishes, pizzas, burgers, smoothies and raw food. In addition to all that, you can enjoy the stalls selling clothes, arts, crafts, pots, plants, cosmetics, soaps, candles and much more. Those with a sweet tooth will love vegan-friendly fresh donuts, Bakewell tarts, cheesecakes and milkshakes. Children’s activities, including face-painting, will also be taking place as well as cookery demonstrations that include advice on how to make your own vegan cheese. Twycross Zoo Outdoor Cinema, Sat 2 Sept

Spend an evening enjoying outdoor cinema at Twycross Zoo with a showing of Disney’s The Jungle book (2016 version). Put on your PJs & onesies, bring your pillows, blankets and chairs, then settle down for a truly amazing night at the zoovies here at Twycross Zoo. Hot and cold food will be available, the Fish bar will also be open and there will also be ice cream and pop corn to enjoy.

Dahlia Festival, Kelmarsh Hall, Sun 3 Sept 

Celebrate the late summer season with spectacular colours when The Dahlia Festival returns to this stunning country house. Enjoy a wonderful display of dahlias and new American-bred varieties which have been added to the historic walled kitchen garden. There will be tours led by the garden consultant and volunteers, flower arranging demonstrations and a chutney tasting to enjoy the produce from the vegetable garden. Opening times are 11am to 5pm and there will be a single entry fee to the hall, gardens and all the events during the Dahlia Festival: £8.60 for adults, £4.50 for children aged 5-14, free entry for under-fives.

Robin Hood Sunday Funday, Loughborough Town Hall, 3rdSEPT

Come along to Loughborough Town Hall to get the whole family ready for our upcoming Robin Hood pantomime this Autumn with a free Sunday Funday, with extra magic provided. There’s lots of activities to enjoy including behind the scenes tours; Morris Dancing workshops, you’ll also get he chance to meet the panto cast. There will also be inflatable games and archery competitions and arts and crafts activities.
