Bring your deckchairs, blankets and picnic for a day out at the movies in the stunning gardens of Belvoir Castle this weekend. The event will be showing Sing, The Jungle Book and Grease and kicks off at 11am. There will also be drinks, ice cream, popcorn, pizza and more. You can buy a day ticket or an evening tickets and you can also treat yourself to a VIP tickets giving you access to the best seats and a VIP bar and entertainment. Click here for tickets.

Leicestershire County Show, Market Harborough, Sat 27 Aug – Sun 27 Aug

Celebrating rural life with livestock and equine classes and a range of family-friendly entertainment, this year you can enjoy motocross freestyle stunts, a classic car and tractor rally, tractor pulling plus a traditional fun fair which includes dodgems and a Ferris wheel. There will also be trade shows and lots of craft stalls to browse and shop in. Visitors to the show can also attend a banquet dinner on Saturday night, with a ticket to the dinner providing guests with a three-course meal followed and an evening of dancing. Tickets cost £8 in advance or £10 on the door, free for children under 14 and free parking.

Open Studio at Makers Yard, Leicester Sat 26 Aug

Leicester’s creative hub Makers Yard is once again opening its doors to the public. Once inside the magnificently restored Grade II-listed building, you’ll get to see local artists at work in their studios including couture milliner Giulia Mio, Helen Howe Atelier and ceramicist Jo Keogh. There will be plenty of opportunities to purchase their gorgeous products and also take part in workshops. Entrance is free.

Abbey Park Extravaganza, Leicester Sun 27 Aug

This fun family day out will feature medieval and Victorian themed activates. Highltight include Alice in Wonderland, Queen of Hearts flamingo croquet, hide and seek wit h the white rabbit, a brass ban, a mini medieval jousting tournament, murder mystery tours andso much more. There will also be storytelling and a magic banquet stage showing circus skills. 12-4pm

Enjoy stand-up comedy in a variety of locations including PETER Pizzeria and The Criterion over the weekend. On Sunday head to the Kids’ Court at The Guidhall and watch as kids put their parents or older siblings on trial and decide a suitable penalty for them. Dead Leicester at the City Festival, The Magazine Fri 25 Aug – Mon 28 aug

Join superb storytellers and comedy as you walk through medieval streets; hear true stories and legends of foul beasts and dastardly deeds, of lost souls, unearthly maidens and fallen kings. Set amongst the sights of the city, the storytellers will drag you giggling and screaming on a roller-coaster ride through two thousand years of Leicester’s history. Summer Art Thread is a collaboration of exciting events from Silver Vine Arts at LCB Depot that includes live music, performances, comedy, workshops, artwork, crafts, and food and drink. From 11am. £3 entry on the door – under 16s free.

Nedwood Music Festival. Turnpost Farm, Wymeswold. Fri 25 Aug – Mon 28 Aug

Three days and a massive line up of local artists, this family-friendly festival features live music, disco tent and a northern soul tent. You can buy tickets for the entire weekend or day tickets. Live acts include folk singer Sophia Marshall. Lady Stardust, The Bowie Experience, Fahran and Her Burden. There’s also fair ground attractions to keep the kids entertained and plenty of stalls and traders pitching up.
