Picnic in the Park and Music in the Market, Loughborough Sat 10 June

Loughborough’s long-standing annual event, Picnic in the Park returns this year at Queen’s Park for an afternoon of dance, music, theatre and street entertainment as well as arts and crafts activities for all the family. There will be stalls full of goodies as well as arts and crafts activities for you to get involved in Bring a picnic to share with friends and family, and enjoy the afternoon. Events from from 12pm – 5pm. Meanwhile, Music in the Market Place is set to be fun day filled with live music. Expect to see Ilea Cavner and New Tricks Magic to name but a few and all presented by DJ Jez. The music starts at 10 am at the bottom of Market Place.

Party in the Piazza, Leicester, Sat 10 June

Leicester is hosting the first ever Gin Festival to celebrate World Gin Day with Party in the Piazza in conjunction with Burleigh’s Gin (distilled here) at the newly renovated Market Place. You’ll get the chance to meet the distillers, sample some gin-based cocktails, great food and live music from local bands and legendary DJ, Norman Jay MBE who will bring an eclectic mix of disco, house, funk and soul. The event will run from 7pm to 12am. Tickets are £30 and include a Burleighs copa glass, entry to a World Gin Day giveaway and your first drink.

Open Farm Sunday,  Leicestershire Sun 11 June

Visit a farm on Open Farm Sunday and discover the world of farming. Find out about the story behind our food and how farming affects our everyday lives. Meet the animals, enjoy tractor rides and have a treat in one of the local farm shops. Leicestershire farms which are participating include, Oakley Grange Organic Farm, Whetstone Pastures Farm (both finalists in our awards) Charnwood Forest Farn, Hawley Fields Farm and more. Stamford Food and Drink Festival, Stamford, Fri 9 – Sun 11 June

Stamford Food and Drink Festival

Jack’s pop-up Tex Mex kitchen, The Exchange, Leicester, Sun 11 June

Enjoy three courses meal including corn on the cob, quesadilla chips, homemade chilli (veg option available) and dessert at this brand new pop-up in the heart of the city. All food is locally sourced and tickets are £20 (£15 with a cocktail) and the foodie event runs from 4pm-7pm. Tickets are available at the venue or via email

Music in the Park, Wistow Hall, Great Glen, Sat 10 June

Bring your own picnic and enjoy a wonderful evening listening to music by local covers band ‘Double Yellers’ and the award winning ‘Ratby Brass Band’. The evening finishes with a fabulous fireworks display in front of Wistow Hall. The concert is raising money for LOROS hospice and Young Leicestershire, supporting young people to achieve their full potential. The concert is organised by the Wigston Rotary Club, and the compere is Carolyn Oldershaw. Event starts at 7.30pm, Tickets from  £15.00 adults  (£20 on the night) 10-16yrs £5,  under 10’s free.
