Beer Festival, Cosby, Fri 7 Sept – Sat 8 Sept

Sample some 50 real ales, ciders and wines while enjoying live music safe under the shade of The Marquee. On arrival, purchase tokens which can be exchanged for drinks at the bar. Purchase tickets in advance £2 or £4 at the door. Fri 5pm-11pm, Sat 12 midday -11pm.

Heritage Day, Old Forge, Market Bosworth, Sat 8 Sept

Head along to the Old Forge to see it in all its working glory. There will also be a demonstration by Farrier and Blacksmith, Edd Robinson. Watch as the metal is heated until almost white hot when it is then expertly shaped using tools used generations ago. There will also be an exhibition of vintage and antique tools used in and around Bosworth. This event happens once a year so it’s well worth visiting. 10am – 4pm. There will also be a Guided Tour of the Market Bosworth and St Peter’s Parish Church and Grounds.

Campus Sculpture Trail, Modern Painters, New Decorators, Loughborough, Sat 8 Sept

Join Dave Bell for a tour of public sculpture on the University of Loughborough Campus as part of Modern Painters, New Decorators latest project ‘Sleeper, Giant’. Loughborough University has a varied public sculpture collection which includes newly commissioned work by Paul Wager (pictured) and historically important works by Lynn Chadwick, Bernard Schottlander and Peter Laszlo Peri. No prior experience or knowledge of contemporary art is required to attend this event but booking is essential here £2 entry.

Bringing over 20 exhibitors together to display all the amazing businesses and services available for pregnant women and families with little ones. There will be demonstrations throughout the day and local pregnancy experts will also be on hand. Shop around to pick up the best bits for your babies and toddlers. Tea and coffee will be served and there will be delicious treats too. £2 per adult entry and free for children and the first 30 families through the door will receive a free goody bag.

Charnwood’s woodland-themed food festival includes the Secret Gourmet – a forest-inspired menu created by local chefs. Enjoy amazing food and drink experiences in unique locations across Charnwood Forest as well the Forest Food Adventures, take afternoon tea in the iconic Old John Tower at Bradgate Park, experience the unique Forest Pods, savour a forest inspired gourmet dining experience at Mount St Bernard Abbey and much, much more.

Join in with the fun and enjoy live music, cake stalls, a BBQ, prestigious Onion Awards – whattt?? Yes thas right – watch as locals bring their onions which are judged and the winners decided. This year’s categories are: Biggest, Smallest, Best of Three, Children’s Novelty Dressed, Best Chutney or Relish. There will be raffles, games, music and of course, plenty of food and drink. This year, all proceeds go to Macmillan Cancer Support.
