Watch Ballet Central’s rising stars perform a mixed bill of work by world-renowned choreographers, including Jenna Lee’s brand new creation Black Swan – a dark twist on the iconic classic; Matthew Bourne’s Fairies Prologue from his gothic-reworking of Sleeping Beauty and more. The dancers will showcase the best in dance theatre as they embark on their professional dancing career.

SCI-FI Outdoor Cinema, Twycross Zoo, Sat 5 May
May the fourth is over but we still have revenge of the fifth! Make a weekend of Star Wars activities and watch Rogue One: A Star Wars Story under the galaxy at Twycross Zoo. Explore and discover the animals from 5pm, grab a bite to eat, set up station and wait for the force to awaken at 7:30pm. Tickets must be booked in advance. Peppa and her brother George return to Loughborough this bank holiday weekend for more fun and games. Meet the cheeky piggies themselves at regular intervals each day for that photo opportunity and hop on the train for a ride to neighbouring villages where you can find a mini fun fair in Rothley or take part in a picture hunt at Quorn. Let’s hope there’s no muddy puddles though!

Handmade Festival, O2 Academy, Leicester, Sat 5 May – Sun 6 May
Head down to Handmade Festival to discover new and forward thinking music, comedy, art, film, performance and photography. It’s a totally independent music and arts festival and the line up includes Circa Waves, Drenge, Little Comets, Idles –  with still more to be announced! Thrussington’s Village Store May Market, Sun 6 May

This cutesy deli, tearoom and village store in beautiful Thrussington, Leicestershire will be hosting its May Market where you’ll be able to discover a variety of local crafters, makers and bakers and all sorts of fabulous independent local businesses, all under one roof. After you’re done, head to The Blue Lion (under new management) for a cheeky GnT (or two) in the garden where you can enjoy live music and an outside bar. From 2.30 -5.30 and entrance is £2.

Artisan Cheese Fair, Melton Mowbray, Sat 5 May – Sun 6 May

It will be food heaven in Melton Mowbray this May as the UK’s largest cheese fair returns to the town for its eighth year. The Artisan Cheese Fair will be held from 5-6 May and will showcase over 300 of the UK’s rarest and most sought after cheeses, from around 60 cheese makers and producers.  Entry £5 on the day, children under 16 are free. £4 advance.
