There will be lots of activities for the kids to take part in as well as face painting, live stage performances, games and of course delicious street food. Tip. Don’t wear your favourite clothes as chances are you’ll be caught up in a colourful powder storm before the end of the day.

Performed by Bookends with a live string quartet, featuring original movie and interview footage of Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel. Silk painting, Sock Gallery, Loughborough, Sat 3 March
Learn the basic techniques of the exciting art of silk painting in this one day workshop with Linda Harding. Choose from a wide variety of inspirational designs from many cultures, ranging from traditional Celtic images to South Asian peacocks. Discover how to get the best effects from vibrant silk paints and special effects to create your own unique piece of silk art. Age 16+ and the workshop will provide free tea and coffee throughout the day. 10am – 3.30pm.

Lancelot Ribeiro: A Voyage of Discovery, New Walk Musuem, Leics Sun 4 Mar – Sun 6 May
A new exhibition explores the legacy, art and life of the Indian Modernist painter, Lancelot Ribeiro (1933-2010). Restless, prolific and experimental, he produced a unique body of work inspired using his Goan-Indian heritage. In a career spanning over 50 years, Ribeiro produced a stunning array of canvases – abstracts, spiky townscapes, colourful surreal scenes, landscapes and playful sculptures. The exhibition will be drawn mainly from private collections and the collection owned by the artist’s daughter and will trace the development of this artist.
Brickish National Space Centre, Leicester, 3-4 March
Calling all LEGO fans – the Space Centre is the place to be during this fun-filled weekend! You’ll get the chance to see one of the largest displays of LEGO ever created in the UK. Now in its ninth year, the weekend will see the whole building filled with huge LEGO creations, rare kits, planes, trains and automobiles. Visitors will be invited to help build a giant LEGO mosaic and smaller visitors or take control of your very own LEGO NXT Martian Rover. Take a drive on the Martian terrain and see if you can beat the challenge of the day.
