Painted Background for Stitch with Helen Hallows, Loughborough, Sat 17 Feb
Using florals as inspiration, Helen draws with shape and colour to abstract from nature. During this workshop you can use acrylic paints to create abstract, painterly backgrounds on cloth before stitching into the background to ‘draw’ in the details. Age 16 and free tea and coffee throughout the day. £60.

Prosecco and Gin Festival, Athena, Fri 16 Feb – Sat 17 Feb
Wait…did I read right? Yes you sure did! Lovers of prosecco and gin can come together to enjoy their favourite tipples in style as the first touring prosecco and gin festival comes to Leicester. The festival will bring more than 40 carefully selected gins and a bar dedicated to providing a large selection of sparkling wines and prosecco’s to choose from, as well as a cocktail bar dedicated to bringing the two tipples together. Standard tickets are priced at £13.50 and include a free glass of fizz on arrival, a branded glass to take home, tasting tips and recipe booklet, plus full access to the event and entertainment. Alternatively, guests can purchase tickets for £27.50 which includes a standard entry ticket and three drinks tokens.

Join Mission Commanders, along with expert scientists, as they investigate the science of planet Earth. Become a trainee environmental scientist and help them investigate land, air and oceans, and see if together you can find solutions to some of the issues in the world today. Throughout the day the mudlets will also be able to join workshops, demonstrations and hands on science sessions.
