KIDS: Melton by the Sea until 16 Aug

Sand pits, buckets & spades, traditional fairground rides, balloon modelling, flag making, seaside trail and sandcastle competitions plus your favourite princesses, Princess Pals will also be there to judge the best sandcastles.


MUSIC: Gigs in the Gardens, De Montfort Hall Gardens, Fri 16 – Mon 26 Aug 

New to Leicester this summer are the Gigs in the Gardens – a series of large-scale outdoor concerts in the beautiful surroundings of De Montfort Hall gardens during August. Seven nights of brilliant music from the likes of Kaiser Chiefs, The Vaccines and The Twang, Years & Years and Jax Jones, Bugzy Malone, Pro Green , Groove Armada, Pete Tong, Wretch 32 and more over the weekend. How exciting!!

MUSIC: Music in the Mead, Hinckley, Sat 17 Aug 

Male harmony group 4th Avenue return to the Mead following their record-breaking show last year. Danny, Adam, Dougie and Tom will perform their version of iconic songs. This year it will be bigger and better so get the date in your diary and arrange your picnics. From 1 – 3pm.

CULTURE: 1940’s Weekend, Stonehurst Farm, Mountsorrel, Sat 17 Aug

The family farm will be filled with stalls, entertainment, battle re-enactments, music, food, activities, all with a fabulous 1940s theme throughout. The farm park, teashop will be open as usual. On Saturday there will be a vintage Spitfire fly past and on Sunday a vintage Dakota (subject to flying conditions). On Sat there will be a late bar until 9pm with musical entertainment and a Hog Roast. Family ticket £24. From 9.30am.

CULTURE: Bosworth Medieval Festival, Sat 17 – Sun 18 Aug

This is a great full day family event, with not just the battle re-enactment, but jousting, a medieval market, children’s games, large living history encampment, author talks & book signings, entry to the award-winning Exhibition, free car parking and lots more too. 10:00 am – 5:30 pm

CULTURE: Leicester Belgrave Mela, Sun 18 Aug

A day of amazing street performances, mouth-watering South Asian cuisine and the Shopping Bazaar. Visitors can enjoy awe-inspiring performances from the Grand Indian Circus and music from the Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band. The Mela will also host free South Asian arts and cultural activities throughout the city centre and electrifying live entertainment on the main stage.

Get up close and find out more about these amazing birds – watch and learn everything there is to know about these wonderful birds of prey as they displays brings the ancient art of Falconry to the modern age.

CINEMA: An evening of Queen, Leicestershire County Cricket Club, Aug 17 

Enjoy a dazzling collection of performers from London’s West End, including former stars from the smash hit musical ‘We Will Rock You’, come together to present an incredible tribute to one of the world’s great rock bands.  Featuring dozens of hits from an astonishing back catalogue, this is an amazing concert evening no Queen fan should miss. PROMS: Bradgate Park Proms, Bradgate Park & Swithland Wood, 17 Aug 

Set in the stunning grounds of the Bradgate House Ruins, the 2019 Proms is an annual spectacular and will once again be a stunning affair with the Bardi Wind Orchestra. This event includes film, traditional and popular music – so something for everyone. Park on the Deer Meadow and picnic in the ruins grounds prior to the start of the concert.

WELLBEING: Yoga and Brunch, Country Bumpkin Yurts, Great Oxenden, Sat 17 Aug

Taking place over 4 days join in with sandcastle competitions, donkey rides, Punch and Judy and fair ground rides. There will also be a seaside trail for those junior explorers and arts and crafts tent for all you budding artists.

FEST: Lutterworth Summer Festival, 18 Aug

A fun-filled family event with music, food, entertainment, arts, crafts and more. The event will run alongside the feast of St Mary, as the original Town Carnival used to. Free entry.
