Enjoy an afternoon tea treat after a truly relaxing experience at this gorgeous day spa in the heart of Market Harborough. Once you’re done pampering yourself, head upstairs to tuck into a tasty afternoon treat (they cater for every dietary requirement) where you can enjoy finger sandwiches, scones and sweet treats all freshly prepared and served with the choice of tea, coffee or half a bottle of prosecco. £25 per person.
The Langtons Green House, nr Market Harborough
For 13 quid enjoy a selection of delicious sandwiches, cakes, your choice of scone and light bites in this fabulous garden centre. Veg, vegan and gluten-free options also available. A popular one so book in advance! Available from 2.30pm.
Admiral Hornblower, Oakham
If you’re sleeping over in this pub with rooms, bag a spot in the garden area and tuck into warm, fluffy, homemade scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam as well as a selection of delectable fingers sandwiches filled with everything from mature cheddar and onion to roast ham and mustard for £16.95 or splash out a little more on a bottle of Prosecco or a jug of Pimms.
Knight and Garter, Leicester
New for the city pub/brasserie, their afternoon tea features chef-prepared savoury bites (think beef brisket pie, Red Leicester sausage roll, beetroot and mascarpone profiteroles) filled batch rolls and sweet treats accompanied with the choice of over 10 large leaf traditional and creative teas, alcoholic or non-alcoholic sparkling tea or a bottle of house champers. Black Iron at Winstanley House, Leicester
This award-winning afternoon tea really pulls out all the stops. Choose from the classic, gluten free or vegan afternoon tea (all £22 per person) and enjoy everything from finger sandwiches including chicken, bacon and basil as well as cucumber and cream cheese plus, scones and a selection of desserts – we’re loving the sound of the cherry and chocolate mousse. As for tea, we’re thinking Gin and Tonic (yes for reals!). Chink chink! Available Saturdays between 12 -2.30pm.
The Grange Garden Centre, Melton Mowbray
While their cafe has a dreamy cabin vibe that will make you feel like you’re in Swiss Alps, their traditional afternoon tea will transport you back to Blighty! For £27.95 two of you can enjoy tasty homemade scones served with jam butter and clotted cream, chunky sandwiches and magnificent mini cakes. Gluten free and vegan options also available every day 12-4pm.
Cattows Farm, Heather
Tucked away on this mahossive family-run farm, the gorgeous light-filled tea room – with panoramic views of the Leicestershire countryside – is the perfect spot for afternoon tea with friends and family. Expect tiered trays, loaded with delicate sandwiches, fluffy scones and individual cakes and tray bakes. £15 per person or £22 per person with Prosecco. Served daily from 2.30pm (3pm on Sundays and during June, July and August).
Finch’s Arms, Hambleton
This gorgeous gourmet bolthole in the heart of the Hambleton Peninsula serves a tempting afternoon tea that includes sandwiches, homemade scones with clotted cream and jam, cakes and a choice of tea for £18.95. Grab a table on the terrace and enjoy it while soaking up stunning views of Rutland Water. Upgrade your tea with some fizz and choose from Prosecco, Champagne or English Sparkling Wine for a little extra. Served Mon-Sat, 3-5pm.
