Amazing, brilliant women like Thomasina Miers, Dina Asher-Smith, Keeley Hawes, Carolyn McCall and Charlotte Tilbury are featured in today’s Daily Mail as the 50 most inspirational women in the UK – and, um, somehow founder of Muddy Stilettos, Hero Brown has crept into the mix too. Check out the pic of her holding a pink stiletto above. Cheese or what but we love it!!
Tell us all about it Hero
Crazy! I was emailed a few weeks back and I have to admit I was convinced it was a hoax for the first 48 hours – I even called up the journalist up to check it out as it seemed so fantastical.
Turned out it was for real! So last week I went into the Mail offices in London to have my photo taken for the feature as a ‘Digital Pioneer’ and I’m so thrilled to be part of it, and to have met so many brilliant, dynamic, fun women.
I took a couple of behind the scenes shots of the shoot on the day to show you the un-glamour of it all! Magazine shoots involve a lot of waiting around and angsting over what to wear, as the stylist won’t have met you before and so is calling in clothes ‘blind’. If you read Muddy regularly you’ll know I wouldn’t ordinarily wear the outfit I was shot in – I’m much more blingy and trashy than that! – though I did love the stilettos.
One thing I do always love about shoots is chatting to the hair and make up guys – they always have the best celeb stories (sssh, can’t say!) and are usually massively down to earth. This is Emmanuel, a gorgeous guy from Toulouse, who happens to be Hairdresser of the Year! His avant garde stuff is insanely creative –check him out here. Don’t think it would suit me though, Emmanuel…
And below is the result. Can I just say how flipping hard it is it to ‘model’? ‘Move your leg, turn your body, relax your hand, look away, chin down’, GAAHHHHHH!! Thank God I turned down that multi-million pound lingerie deal with Storm last year.
Anyway it was a fun day and all this glitz and publicity is hilarious, but it’s all worthless without readers – so that’s the end of my showing off, and I’m off back to the day job of helping you to find the fun stuff!
