GBBO contestant, Priya O’Shea
We're chuffed that she's repping Leicester on this year's series of The Great British Bake Off. Here's everything you need to know about the amateur baker.
The Great British Bake Off is back on telly and suddenly, all is good in the world – everything apart from Noel Fielding’s wacky fashion sense that is!
This year’s 13 contestants are all hoping they have what it takes to impress Prue and Paul. We’re down to 11 hopefuls now, but it’s Priya O’Shea that has already got our vote. The self-proclaimed perfectionist from Leicester is hoping to not put a foot wrong in her bid to impress the judges.
Here’s everything you need to know about the local gal:
This is not the first time Priya decided to enter Bake Off.
She downloaded the form way back in 2012 but never submitted it because she never thought she’d get on – it’s all about timing Priya and your time is obviously now.
Priya is from Leicester.
Born and raised and lives there with her husband and two children.
She is writing her first novel.
It’s called ‘The Good Indian Girl’s Cooking School’ and follows the adventures of a group of young British Asian women at cookery school. She was one of nine writers selected by publishers, Penguin to join their WriteNow mentoring programme.
Priya first started baking at an after-school baking club.
Years later her mother in law bought her a kitchen mixer as a wedding present. Once she switched that bad boy on, she never looked back and went ‘baking bonkers.’
She’s obviously got a sweet tooth.
And is not ashamed to admit that she’ll happily make, and eat an entire lemon drizzle cake herself. She also loves making Nutella donuts and Lemon iced buns and serving them together – oh we like the sound of that – we’ll be round for tea tomorrow.
She describes herself as a tea loaf.
It’s a bit fruity, a bit nutty and great with a cup of tea.
The 34 year old prefers savoury over sweet.
Fresh bread and shortcrust pastries are a hit in her family but she prefers a good ol’ regular crusty loaf to sourdough – here here!
Catch Priya on The Great British Bake Off, Tuesday, Channel 4 at 8pm.
