Hip new happenings in Leicester's gorgeous Stoneygate area - here's why you need to head there now! You heard it here first...

This leafy area of the city is already known for its unique and boutique shopping experience, but now things are getting a whole lot better with a string of new indie businesses opening up, so it’s never been a better time to visit.

Here’s the latest word on the street…

Art Gallery

I’ve heard a few rumours that some local art galleries maybe closing down but you know what they say, when one door closes, another one opens which is why I’m super excited that Adore Fine Arts (1 Allandale Rd) has opened up. Located where Trident Galleries used to be, this indie business is run by Oksana Smaditch, who realised she had a passion for art when she bought a few pieces from the previous owner. After giving the shop a full refurb, she’s open for business and is stocking a wonderful range of stunning artwork. She’ll be hosting a few exhibitions in the gallery including one on 3 Oct for artist Todd White.

Coffee Shop

I may not be a coffee addict but I love gawping at gorgeous decor and eating cake and it seems the new coffee shop, Coffee and Couture (27 Francis Street) has got it in spades! Located on Francis Street, the coffee shop serves Columbian coffee (great for those of you who tend to procaffeinate) as well as brunch smoothie bowls filled with berries, fruit, seeds and granola, soul bowls, sweet treats and of course plenty of coffee. Owner Zayn, loves fashion and is a clothes designer and wanted a space where she could meet clients and the idea evolved from there and also grew bigger. The decor is inspired by Parisian style (hence the name of course) with touches of gold accessories, fashion books scattered on the coffee tables as well as beautiful florals hanging from the ceiling. There’s also coolers like strawberry and lime green tea cooler, mango and pineapple black tea cooler as well as super green healthy drinks and Tres Leches cakes. Yum!

Yoga Studio

Personal trainer and wellbeing coach Stephanie Jinks is opening up her first yoga studio. Yoga House will be slap bang in the middle of Stoneygate (exact details to come). She’ll be offering a range of yoga inc Vinyasa, Energy Flow, Healing Yoga and there will also be weekly classes for kids too (!) and I’ve heard that she’ll also be collaborating with some local businesses. This won’t be your ordinary yoga studio – she’s gone all out and decked the place out with gorgeous furnishing and accessories inspired by India and Asia – think white walls, solid wood sliding doors, beautifully carved chakki tables (I want one in my house) and she’ll even have an outdoor yoga zen den in the garden. OMG sounds so exciting, plus, she’ll be stocking the most delicious energy balls evaaaa – perfect for a pre/post yoga sess!

The plus side to all these new businesses opening up is that there’s free parking in the area – there’s such a lovely, relaxed neighbourhood feel to the area it’s definitely worth checking out if you haven’t already.

Pssst, there’s also rumours that a new eatery is opening up in the former Marabel restaurant but details are still sketchy but I’ll keep my ear to the ground for you!
