There’s always space for a new bottle of gin in my drinks cabinet so I’m super excited to head down to Bond Street Distillery, Hinckley’s first gin distillery, set up by Sally Faulkner. Locals have been eagerly awaiting the opening for a few months now which is set in a former hosiery factory.
The building will have a gin school, a beautiful function space on the top floor called the ‘Crows Nest’ and a lavish cocktail bar (make mine an Elderflower Collins) something that the area is missing at the mo. Not only will you be able to sample the gin here, but also use some seriously modern wine machines without even going to the bar. Intrigued? So am I
The distillery will be making 600 bottles of Hinckley Number One gin featuring seven botanicals ingredients including fresh orange peel and is all set to open Thur 12 Dec but of course, we’ll be getting a little sneaky peek before then. Stay tuned! 127 Upper Bond St, Hinckley LE10 1RT.

There’s been a spat of recent re-launches across Leicestershire, the first being The Deli at 58 over in Loughborough. Run by Sam and Chris who have taken over this small, but perfectly formed deli and have re-opened it just in time for winter. Signature dishes include include The New Yorker sandwich (pastrami, dijonnaise and sauerkraut) Eggs Royal and Stilton topped sausage rolls. The duo are also big on being ethical and eco friendly staying clear of plastics as much as possible and using recycled paper boxes, cups and waxed paper for cheeses and meat. 58 Ward’s End, Loughborough LE11 3HB.
Meanwhile popular neighbourhood eatery, Timo in Leicester’s Stoneygate has had a little bit of a face lift. I’m loving the electric blue and purple leather chairs and textured green walls plus, there’s a jungle themed wallpaper but I can’t quite decide if it would have looked better in my son’s bedroom or not! Apparently the kitchen’s worked alongside a Michelin-trained chef to take its food up a notch too. Expect new dishes including panko-coated prawns served with homemade lobster mayo and avocado sauce. 13 Allandale Rd, Leicester LE2 2DA
