Egg-citing Easter events

A whole bunch of awesome suggestions in Leics and Rutland to excite, inspire and get the mudlets out of bed!

Gorse City Farm, Leicester from Mon 26 March – Mon 2 April

Enjoy face painting during the Easter break and on Sat 31 March and Sun 1 April the family will be able to meet the small chicks at this lovely city farm book in advance and only £1 per person. Meanwhile on 30 March and Easter Monday you can get up close to the lambs and you may even have the chance to enjoy a cuddle.

Eggzooburant Easter, Twycross Zoo, Sat 25 March – Sun 15 April

Schools out so it’s time for some extra fun  Twycross Zoo. Bring the whole family and explore over 500 animals including giraffes, meerkats, humbolt penguins, snow leopards and more. Don’t forget to crack the games and puzzles in our special Easter Trail and the kids will get to see their favourite PAW Patrol and PJ Masks characters too.

Visit Conkers, Ashby de la Zouch, Mon 26 March – 15 April
As always there’s lots of events planned at Conkers over the Easter break. Choose from Punch and Judy shows, circus acts, enjoy some animal encounters, there’s even a new magic show planned plus children’s rides, pony rides, science fun, musical workshops and more.

Easter Adventure, Ashby de la Zouch Castle, Fri 30 Mar – Mon 2 April

Calling all valiant adventurers this Easter weekend…join in with the fun for the legendary dragon eggs. Set off with an intrepid character from he past to crack the clues and claim your chocolate reward.

Get the mudlets to make like Robin Hood and try their hand at archery. There will be a prize for the winner before starting the Easter egg challenge. 10.30am – 3.30pm. £3 for 5 arrows.

Easter events, GCR Loughborough, Tues 27 March – Thur 5 April
Head to the Great Central Railway for a fun few days. Meet Alice in Wonderland and The Mad Hatter on the platform at Loughborough station and the Easter bunny on the Bunny Express. From Friday you can enjoy a vintage funfair. There’s plenty for mums and dads too including craft stalls, an ale tent and live music over the weekend. Tickets £6

Peter Rabbit Party, Belgrave Hall, Leicester, Wed 28 March

The Belgrave Hall gardens bounce back to life with crafts, trails and storytelling inspired by the classic tales of Beatrix Potter. Meet some of the animal characters with an animal handling session including a giant rabbit, owl, and a hedgehog as well as the chance to meet Shetland Ponies and spring lambs. Drop in activities £3, or £5 with an animal handling session. Free car park available

Pick up a sheet from the ticket office and explore the Heritage Centre and Country Park to find the Easter bunnies and return to collect your prize. £2 per child. Join the Easter bunny on for an tea party in the Tithe Barn on Sat 31 March from 2.30-4.30pm, meanwhile on Wed 4 April you can enjoy a picnic lunch with him too.

Enjoy a delicious brunch at the lovely café/deli before taking the mudlets on an egg-citing Easter egg hunt around the organic farm from 12-4pm.

Easter fun, Haymarket Shopping Centre, Leicester, Weds 28 March

Your kids will love the chance to meet their fave Beatrix Potter characters including Jemima Puddle-Duck, Peter Rabbit, Mr Tod the fox and Mrs Tiggy-Winkle. They’ll also have the chance to get their face painted, take part in a ‘spot the lot’ trail and join in the Easter craft workshop.

Easter at Barnsdale Gardens, Exton, Oakham, Sat 14 – Tues 17 April
Come for a fun-filled family weekend. Everyone can paint an egg to help decorate our special Easter Tree and youngsters can have a cracking good time hunting for tokens to swap for a chocolatey Easter treat. Egg painting 12pm-4pm on Saturday too. Garden admission: adult £9, concession £8, child £5, family (2 adults + 3 children) £28.

Garden bunny hunt, Donington Le Heath, Mon 2 April – Sun 15 April
Enjoy a Garden Bunny Hunt during the Easter holidays. Pick up a sheet from the ticket office, explore the 1620s Garden to find the Easter bunnies and return  to collect your prize. 10.30am – 4pm

Children’s Easter hunt, Rockingham Castle, Sun 1 April – Mon 2 April 
Seek out the brightly coloured eggs which have been hidden in the magnificent gardens. Each egg has a letter, which makes up an Easter word. Once you have found the word you can claim your chocolate egg.
Continue the fun and take part in the family quiz. Event and castle gate prices, adult £12, Child £8.50 under 3’s free.

Wacky World, Leicester Arena, Mon 2 April – Tues 3 April

Wacky World will give big and little kids the chance to jump around on a giant inflatable attraction. Burn off some of those Easter eggs in attractions including the Total Wipeout, the Human Wrecking Ball, gladiator duels, assault courses and more. Tickets cost £14.50 for children sessions (includes free adult supervisor), £14.50 for mixed ages session, and £24.50 for adult session.

Embrace the spring holiday and tuck into delicious eggs, DIY tea parties, bunny workshops and more from Sat 24 March to Mon 2 April at John Lewis between 10-4pm. Hop to the Disney Store and take part in their fun Disney egg hunt. Meanwhile, the Build-A-Bear shop will also be hosting an easter event on 23rd-25th March and 30th-1st April for their Hop Hop Hooray Easter event where you can make an Easter Bunny bookmark.

Alice in Wonderland Egg Hunt and Cream Tea party, Beaumanor Hall, Monday 2 April

Lose yourself into the magical fantasy world of Alice and her surreal and splendid Wonderland! Be delighted and entertained by the Madhatter and his menagerie of incredible characters from this iconic story. Play giant garden games, join the white rabbits Easter Egg hunt enjoy the Cheshire cat’s storytelling, play hide and seek with the white rabbit and so much more at this cream tea party. Meanwhile from Mon 26 March – Fri 6 April, there are some great activities lined up from a Crystal Maze challenge to climbing  and abseiling. £35 a day.
