22 egg-cellent Easter events

Mon Amie, Easter Wreath Making, Kibworth, 9 April

Using the best materials that the season has to offer, you will create a truly beautiful fresh Easter Door Wreath displaying all the joys of Spring. Louise and Julia will provide everything you need to make a stunning door wreath using fresh foliage and decorations. This three hour course covers step by step instructions – no experience is necessary and the results are always spectacular. 10am – 1pm. £45

Easter Egg Cycling Trail, Sat 13 – Sun 28 Apr

The Easter Egg Trail on wheels goes between Normanton and Whitwell Taking you on a flat, gentle 8 mile route next to the water, there will be clues along the way. £1 donation which will go towards the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice. There will be an Easter egg and certificate for all children who participate. Bike hire is available at our Whitwell and Normanton stores for both adults and children.

It’s time to click your heels as Shone Productions take you over the rainbow in their fantastic production of The Wizard of Oz. Join Dorothy and her cute dog Toto as they enter the wonderful land of Oz. During their travels down the yellow brick road they meet some lovely friends including a Scarecrow, Tin Man and a Lion. They travel together to see the great and powerful Wizard of Oz, but this won’t be easy as the Wicked Witch is determined to stop them by any means necessary.

Get ready for Easter and make your essential seasonal crafts – cards, baskets, headwear, masks and decorations (17 Apr). The following week kids can try their hand at crafts inspired by some of the national animals of Britain including lions, bulldogs, horses, unicorns, robins and of course dragons. Easter Fair, Woodside Animal Centre, Leics, Sat 20 Apr

Take part in this family-friendly event to help raise funds for the Woodside Animal Centre. With more than 40 craft stalls from around Leicestershire, there’s plenty of activities and lots to eat and drink. Traditional fair stalls including ‘Hook a Duck’ and there will also be a workshop to decorate your own Easter biscuit and an Easter Egg Hunt around the animal centre will have children learning about animal welfare and husbandry while having fun and earning some tasty chocolate. There’s also a professional Zentangle workshop, an Easter Bonnet contest and a baking competition. Adults: £1.50, children (ages 5-16): £1, and children under 5 go free. You can pay entry on the gate, or book in advance below. From 11am.

Take part in a games and activities alongside a traditional Easter egg hunt in the beautiful grounds of Beaumanor Hall. There will also be a Crazy Carrot Circus plays, there will be magical stories, magic and balloon modelling in the vegetable patch and more. Tickets available 10am-12.30pm, or 1pm-3.30pm session. Calling all budding astronauts! Enjoy an immersive full egg sized dome show celebrating the Apollo Space programme. Join the National Space Centre for a journey that, 50 years ago, landed humans on the Moon. Take a seat in the UKs largest Planetarium to see this brand-new show. Want to get hands-on with science? Construct a Moon orbiter and build a lunar module and find the perfect landing site on a giant map of the Moon.

Fancy an afternoon in the forest? Come along to our Easter Egg hunt! Solve the clues, Find the eggs and work out the code!! Once completed, you’ll receive a chocolate egg as your prize. Easter Bonnet Competition, Market Harborough, Sat 20 Apr

Attention mudlets -i t’s time to get crafty! Make a lovely Easter bonnet and have the chance to win yourself one of two shiny new bikes up to the value of £150.  Registration is from 10.45 in the main hall and will take place between 11am and 12.50pm. The lucky winners will be  announced at 1pm. For children 12 years and under.

Hunt for the brightly coloured eggs which have been hidden in our magnificent gardens. Each egg has a letter, which makes up an Easter word. Once you have found the word you can claim your chocolate egg. If your little treasure hunters are still full of beans, they can help Wentworth find his wandering armour and earn a badge as Chief Griffin Assistant.
