Joel LaRosa Design

This year I’m hoping to… renovate our kitchen! Crazy – right? A kitchen designer who doesn’t have his dream kitchen, but I’m so busy creating other peoples kitchens every day. On the plus side, this means that I have so much inspiration from them! I love DIY and have got all the tools I need to create my own concrete worktops which I’m really excited about. I’m also planning on re-tiling the kitchen – I’ve got my eye on herringbone mosaic tiles and I hope to share it on my Instagram later in the year. Wish me luck!

Chevron Herringbone by Cheville Parquet

Inspired by a brand we’re working with called Cheville parquet who offer the most fantastic range of wooden flooring. Having recently sourced some samples for a new client we’ve decided that we are going to have a new floor put down in our lounge. I’m thinking the timeless classic oak in chevron herringbone which is stunning and my personal favourite. A close runner up would be there Versailles range which is really different and looks incredible. Hmm tough choice!

I am really hoping we can make plans with our garden room, we extended our cottage six years ago but is amazing how fast you can fill the space with three growing boys! I would love a small oak framed room, which would then allow us to move our dining table in towards it and create more room around for the boys and guests when they eat with us. We had some work on our garden completed this year (with the help of the rather talented Joyce Bullock Garden Designs) and it would be nice to link the garden with our home more. As my husband says though – we haven’t got a money tree growing –  so it will happen when we have saved enough pennies. It is definitely the next project on my list though – it may be an occupational hazard but I always need a little home goal to be working towards.

Dix Blue via Farrow and Ball

My bedroom is long overdue being put to the bottom of the pile after having my boys. The last time I painted the walls was when I was suffering with morning sickness – not the best memories! I’ve decided I want it to be more of a haven, so I’ll be ditching the neutral walls and going bold using Farrow & Ball Dix Blue on the walls, and white linen curtains to calm and help add a complete contrast against the walls. Gone will be the metal bed frame and instead I’ll be adding a deep buttoned extra padded headboard with crisp white sheets. With my fettish over cushions, I’m sure a few will find their way in and I plan to finish it off with the biggest fluffiest throw I can find.
