Where’s the best place to live in Leicestershire and Rutland?
The Sunday Times has revealed its top spots to live in 2020 - but did your hometown make the cut?
It looks like we’ll all be spending plenty of time at home at the moment, so what better time to appreciate where you’re living (or, alternatively, start dreamily house-hunting on Rightmove)? The Sunday Times has just released its annual round-up of the best spots in the country to lay your hat – its Best Places to Live Guide 2020, takes into account house prices, air quality, good schools and access to green spaces, as well as community spirit – we can all use a spade load of that right now!
Uppingham in Rutland took the top spot for The Midlands whoop whoop and it’s not hard to see why. Friendly, welcoming, full of character “as pretty as the Cotswolds, but without the price tag and the tweeness.” Plus, it fought off stiff comp from Oakham, Oundle and Stamford. Check out our Insider’s Guide to the pretty market town here.
Melton Mowbray is repping for Leicestershire and who can blame them with its love of pork pies and the friendly markets — and apparently the best lager ever ohhh and it’s also the “Rural Capital of the World.”
If you’re not in one of these two towns for the foreseeable (let’s not even guess what month we’ll be allowed out of own homes), take a look at who else made the cut.
