Gotta have it! Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2021
Pantone, the ultimate colour authority has spoken, and 2021's official shades are Ultimate Gray and Illuminating (aka, sunshine yellow). Here's how to get the look.
Every year Pantone announces its signature colour (or colours) for the year ahead, and no doubt they had a job coming up with something to pull us out of the emotional rollercoaster that’s been the last 12 months.
For 2021, it’s a two shade showstopper (not the first time they’ve done this – 2016 had Rose Quartz and Serenity) to splash across our homes and wardrobes with gay abandon. The choices? Ultimate Gray and Illuminating, a bright sunny yellow. Here’s why they’re the chosen ones for 2021, according to Pantone:
“As people look for ways to fortify themselves with energy, clarity, and hope to overcome the continuing uncertainty, spirited and emboldening shades satisfy our quest for vitality. PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating is a bright and cheerful yellow sparkling with vivacity, a warming yellow shade imbued with solar power. PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray is emblematic of solid and dependable elements which are everlasting and provide a firm foundation. Ultimate Gray quietly assures, encouraging feelings of composure, steadiness and resilience.”
Well, there you go then! Here’s how to get the look with products from our plucky local producers at The Indie Store. Go shop and be ahead of the curve for 2021!
