As veganism continues to grow, it’s interesting to see how the beauty industry is changing with it. One brand slightly ahead of the times is Botanicals – it launched almost 15 years ago, well before the likes of Miranda Kerr and her Kora Organics brand jumped on the vegan beauty bandwagon.
Wendy Stirling launched the Leicestershire-based company in 2004 after her daughter suffered a severe skin reaction to what sounded like a natural-herbal shampoo. Since then, she’s been on a mission to educate herself with the tools and know-how to create completely natural products.
Botanicals is now a multi-award winning natural organic skincare brand and it’s even certified by the Soil Association. The Soil what? It’s basically Europe’s most well-respected organic certifying body but unfortunately, the law only extends to organic food and not to body-care products. However, Wendy is so passionate about the benefits of using natural organic skincare, that she ensured Botanicals met the strict criteria of the Association and now it proudly sits alongside other fantastic and well-known brands like Neal’s Yards, Daylesford and Kinn Living.
If I could, I’d use every single one of their products from the bath wash right through to the foot scrub but in the real world, that’s just not practical. It’s not that they’re super pricey (my shampoo costs more than their natural one) it’s just that I don’t need every product in their range and I’m a firm believer of investing in a few great ‘buys’ (this applies to all aspects of my life) but I wouldn’t turn down a beauty hamper if it turned up on my doorstep *wink wink*.
From the deliciously divine scents of rosemary, mint, neroli and lemongrass I’ve been quietly sampling a few of their products over the last few months and I can honestly say, what I used, I loved so don’t be too surprised dear family if you end up receiving a Botanicals gift for your next birthday!
All Botanical’s products are professionally tested and certified and they’re free from all those chemical nasties that can irritate the skin. You won’t be surprised to learn that there are no artificial colours, fragrances or harmful preservatives – it’s all created using the pure power of plants and all 100% natural. If that wasn’t enough goodness, they’re also good for the environment because they use minimalist recycled or recyclable packaging so whichever way you look at it, you’re onto a winner!
