It’s time to get serious about your AW17 wardrobe, and that includes investing in a stylish, statement coat. Wrap up in style with Muddy’s pick of the best winter coats.

Marks and Spencer

I don’t know about you but my first point of call for winter coats is usually M&S. In recent years their coat collections have got better and better and I’m always impressed by the price tag. This Checked Coat is no different and priced at £99 you see why I’ve picked it out. It’s sophisticated but subtle and I love the colours which will instantly glam up any outfit. It would look just as good with jeans as it would with black trousers during the day and you can dress it up with tights and heels in the evening making it the perfect coat to take you from day to night.

Phase Eight

It’s taken me years to find the perfect parka but I think I’ve found it with this beauty. The Brisa Long Side Stretch Coat (£189 reduced to £139) is on top of my wish-list. The gorgeous deep olive colour and the gold detailing is my dream combo so is more than likely to be my next purchase. The longline feather jacket is showerproof, stretchy (always good this time of year) comes with side pockets, an elasticated belt and a detachable faux-fur hood. And right now there’s £50 off the jacket so what are you waiting for?

Out with the black and in with some colour! This might not be the first colour that comes to mind when investing in a winter coat but this hot orange number will definitely turn heads. The Odelia Coat (£329) will heat up your winter and will surely make you stand out in the best way possible. The feminine coat comes in longer line length with a draped front and an accompanying belt to define your waist and designed using a soft wool blend.

Karen Millen

I’m a sucker for leopard print but in moderation of course and now is the best time to invest in a chic, leopard print coat. This Karen Millen (£375) one ticks all the boxes – it looks like a trench but they’ve upped the ante with this one so it’s perfect to see you right through to spring which means you can justify spending that much on it! It comes with an oversized collar, cuffs and pockets. It is crafted to a fitted silhouette that is defined by a contrasted black buckle belt. Tres chic!
