John’s House, Mountsorrel
Well, we had to include the county’s only Michelin-starred restaurant. Not one for usually doing something exclusive for Valentine’s day, John and his team have prepared a tempting menu for two that’ll keep the cockles burning long after Valentines Day has come and gone. The veggie menu includes onion and rosemary bread with whipped butter, goats cheese mousse, wild mushroom risotto (yum). Meanwhile the non-veg includes lightly smoked Loch Duart salmon, Stonehurst Tamworth pork belly and you’ll even get half bottle of Champagne thrown in! £140 per couple with matching wines available for £49 per couple. The Hammer and Pincers, Wymeswold
Expect a ready-made meal box brimming with foodie delights. On the menu is home baked sour dough, hand, dived scallops and lobster as well as porcini mushroom tartlet with shaved truffle and more. For dessert there’s Vahlrona chocolate delice, as well as grapes and cheese to feed your loved one. Hampers available to pre-order from 12- 14 Feb. £100 per couple, £140 with wine flight.
Simon Spooner, Ketton, Rutland
The popular Rutland chef has put together two six-course menus which you can finish off at home before tucking in – nothing too taxing we promise. The delicious and seasonal menu includes Yuzu and ginger cured salmon, cote du boeuf or shallot tarte tartin (veg) with triple cooked truffle and parmesan chips, finished with rhubarb tart and almond crumble, ginger ice cream, miso caramel fudge and extras. Delivery available within 10 miles of Ketton or you can arrange to collect 13-14 Feb. £120 per couple.
Pear Tree, Woodhouse Eaves
A truly romantic date night is waiting for you and your partner thanks to this family-run restaurant. On the menu is tortellini, Lobster bisque, tarragon oil, beef wellington and for the something sweet, a chocolate heart to share, chocolate and passionfruit and a white chocolate and raspberry entremet – that’s a French pastry BTW! Stag and Hounds, Burrough on the Hill, Melton Mowbray
Dinner from a chef who’s previously worked at his fair share of Michelin-starred restaurants, means that food from this local pub this Valentine’s Day will be a memorable one. Dominic Clarke is cooking up a feast that includes canapes, scallops, saddle of lamb for two to share with veggies and potatoes. A tasty takeaway for two which Orbis are calling ‘an aphrodisiac with cocktails and a bottle of fizz.’ Expect a colourful and exotic array of food from around the world including oysters, Japanese Wagyu beef, asparagus and mushroom larb. There’s also a trio of desserts, prosecco and cocktails which should get you in the mood for lurrrve in no time at all. £75 per couple.
