Cocktail bars for outdoor drinking

With bars now open for outdoor drinking (hurrah!), here are some of the best ones to seek out across Leicestershire and Rutland. If you need me, you'll know where to find me. Chin-chin!

While not all of our fave drinking spots are open yet, there’s still plenty of bars open to visit to enjoy a sweet-toothed tipple or a classic cocktail.

NineB Restaurant and Bar, Leicester

Hands down, the most stylish place to grab a drink in Leicester. Tucked away on the ground floor of the swanky new Novotel and Adagio hotel complex. While the plush inside isn’t open just yet, you can enjoy a drink on the outdoor terrace and you don’t even need to book. Food is also being served from the restaurant until 6pm but then, it’s all about the cocktails so grab your bestie for a long-awaited Cheers!

The Waterfront, Market Harborough

This place is a popular spot with locals and it’s not hard to see why. Overlooking the canals, they’re serving breakfast, lunch and dinner and no need to book. Enjoy a long overdue Boathouse Bramble cocktail while soaking up those calming water views.

Orbis Oakham, Rutland

The guys at this Church Street restaurant/bar have opened up a brand spanking new courtyard with heaters (yes please), so you’ll be able to play out even if the spring weather does its worst. They’re serving brunch and dinner so make a booking for some outdoor enjoyment pronto! Plus, they’re serving a new menu of summer cocktails. Anyone for a fruit ‘n whiskey smash?

Don Paddy’s Oakham Rutland

Slap bang in the middle of Uppingham High Street, this brasserie has always been a popular spot with Rutlanders. The outdoor area spills into the square and there’s plenty of space to enjoy lunch with friends and they’re also serving a few cocktails at the moment. No booking required.

The Gadabout, Leics

Tucked away in the city’s Guildhall Lane, this chic, city cocktail bar is based in a 17th century tavern that’s been seriously glammed up and the bartenders really know a thing or two about cocktails. The Gadabout – as the name suggests- is all about seeking pleasure so it’s definitely the place you want to be after lockdown.

What’s been your fave bar to visit since lockdown has started to lift? Let me know in the comments below. x
