Book now: Best autumn pudding and supper clubs

Fancy something a little different than your local pub? Then take a peek at these awesome foodie joints popping up over Leicestershire and Rutland this autumn.

Can’t be bothered to cook? I hear ya! Get in on the pop-up supper club action across Leicestershire and Rutland – share tables, conversation, and seriously impressive food.

No 56 Kibworth, 13 Sept

Yellowbird will be popping up here for their Satay Supper Club. Serving traditional Singapore Peranakan food, it’s a real popular one and there will also be bit of live jazz going on during the evening too. Think rustic, homely and flavoursome – if you love Asian flavours prepare to have your tastebuds tickled. Tickets are £40 but more than half are gone so be quick!

The Loquacious Baker, Burbage, Hinckley, 26 Sept

Cathy will be launching her first Pudding Club in her gorgeous little coffee and cake shop. If you’ve not been here before then you’re seriously missing out as her cakes and pastries are some of the best I’ve tasted – check out the Muddy review here.

The actual  menu is shrouded in mystery and the lucky attendees will only find out what they’re having when it’s served to them. Limited availability and I suspect by the time word gets out via Muddy, tickets will be sold out. £18 per person which includes a glass of Prosecco and there will be approx ten mini puds! If you can’t make it catch it next month. She’ll also be hosting a Cocktails and Canapés night too – details TBC. Watch this space.

Wistow Cafe Bistro, Sept

Join the lovely people at Wistow for an evening of delicious food with an Italian flavour. Always popular, book early to avoid disappointment and enjoy two courses a main and a dessert, pus it’s BYOB – plus all that pud for only £20 – it’s a win win!

Knife Fork and Spooner, Ketton, Rutland, Sat 28 Sept

Run by Masterchef 2018 contestant Simon Spooner, Knife Fork and Spooner (see what he did there) hosts a range of monthly supper clubs, private events and cookery workshops. His supper clubs are mahoossively popular and we can see why. Previous Insta-baiting menus have featured fennel seed bao filled with Gloucester old spot pork belly, fermented apple sauce, fennel kimchi and Szechuan mayo and also pan fried asparagus, charred courgettes, courgette purée, broad beans, pickled fennel, braised fennel. They take place in his barn in Ketton, Rutland where he can cater for 14 people. You’ll be treated to a delicious four course seasonal meal, plus it’s BYOB! Book for his supper clubs here.

Thrussington’s Village Store, Fri 27 Sept

This little deli/tea room is a hidden gem tucked away in Thurssington. They’ve been hosting monthly supper clubs for a while now but their first autumn event is a really special one. Collaborating, as always with Thomas The Caterer who this time will be brining along a Thai chef who will prepare a delicious Thai meal. Starts at 7.30pm for an 8pm sitting. £42 per person and I’ve had a sneak peek at the menu and you an expect Tom Yum seafood, satay chicken, red duck curry, mango and stick rice and more. My stomach is rumbling already.

Red Barn Supper Club, Loughborough 8 Nov

As far as foodie couples go, Guy and Lily are the real deal. As farmers and chef they’re in the best possible position to share their love, understanding and passion for food which is exactly what they do. Bringing the idea of farm to table supper club, they’re going be over in Loughborough for one evening dishing up drinks, canapes and of course a three-course meal as well as a few extra tantalising treats. The food will be seasonal and locally sourced and the main course will feature meat from their Northamptonshire farm. BYOB again and the evening menu consist of pumpkin, lamb and chocolate – with just that to go on, the possibilities are endless but will definitely be delicious. Tickets will be on sale from September via Eventbrite or call 07747 845360.

I agree, we need some vegan ones. The ones I wanted to feature are just outside Leics/Rutland!
