Beautifully hung and arranged on hangers, the curtains are nearly all second hand but only the best are taken on for resale. Some of the curtains are new or have only been hung for a very short time.
The curtains have been brought in for various reasons – it may be a house move, a change of look or redecoration, or sometimes mistakes happen and someone needs to recoup some of the costs involved. Many of the curtains are designer fabrics and are current fabrics from the top end. Colefax and Fowler, Bakers, Jane Churchill, Villa Nova and Romo.
Most of the curtains are interlined and handmade; some come with pelmets and tiebacks and should fit most windows. The excellent web site lets you choose what you are looking for by fabric or size and typically they are retailing 50- 70% less than the original price.
Curtains that are accepted stay with the Emporium for six months. When they sell they send a cheque for 50% of the sale price minus the VAT.
If you’re looking to buy rather than sell, the team is on hand to help and offer advice, and there’s a 2 to 3 day approval service which means, subject to leaving a few details, you can take curtains home and see how they suit your needs. You can also reserve for a few days if you see them on the website.
There’s no such thing as an average window, and The Curtain Emporium is no average shop!
