Kavanagh’s Tea Room

Muddy says, this beautiful and characterful tea room is situated in the heart of Oakham. It serves breakfast, lunch and the most indulgent afternoon tea ever.

Less than a year old and Kavanagh’s Tea Room is already making an impression on everyone who visits, including the BBC where they will be featured on the One Show very soon.

Inside this special tea room, decor is opulent and grand – think vintage chandeliers and fabulous floral wallpaper alongside the building’s own original features.

Clare and Martyn run the tea room together and their passion really shines through. Clare has been baking since she was five and is a self-confessed mad scientist when it comes to baking and is constantly seeking inspiration, dreaming and creating sweet delights that are a feast for the eyes as well as the tastebuds.

Breakfast and lunch is served here every day and dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings. They also are extremely proud of their afternoon tea and love to get creative and in the past have included Harry Potter themed tea and currently are running an Alice in Wonderland themed tea in celebration of 150 years of the wonderful story.

Clare believes that afternoon tea should be served anytime of the day so offers it to guests as early as they want. A coeliac herself, she also offers an amazing variety of gluten-free food and treats ensuring that everyone is catered for and is currently trying to create the first, perfect gluten-free doughnut so watch this space.
