There’s a brand-spanking new purpose built drive-in venue in Market Harbs where you can catch The Big Summer event over June. You’ll be able to watch heaps of great films including Grease, Aladdin, Shawshank Redemption, Inception, Beauty and the Beast, Tenet and so many more. They’ve also got a Jersey Boys Party Night on 22 May, and the Big Magic and Music Show on 17 July. There’s also Kibworth Outdoor Cinema 5 June plus, The Big Family Drive-in 1-3 May at Rockingham Castle. Food and drink can also be ordered and VIP tickets guarantee you a spot closer to the screen. Chip the mud off the dashboard, remove the stale crisps from under the passenger seat and get booking.

Adventure Cinema (pic above) has just announced a pop up fest in the city. Expect 4 days of films, street food, live comedy, music and more from 1-4 July at Abbey Park. We can hardly wait.

***FESTIVALS***

Barefoot Festival is back with a bang!

After missing out on festival season, I bet you’ll be making up for it this year! Good news then that this fantastic family festival is back. Held in the grounds of Prestwold Hall, close to Nottingham, Leicester and Loughborough, there will be everything from Burlesque dancing to yoga, live music, fire breathers, flame spinners and tonnes of kids entertainment too.

An 80’s drive-in festival travelling back through time, celebrating the best of an era through film and music. Sounds like fun – right? Head into the iconic era of the 80’s, by putting on your most outrageous outfit and going on a time warp adventure full of music, colour and fun before ending the night with an amazing lights and laser show. This event will be a drive-in format with space to be able to sit outside your car (guidelines permitting). Featuring tribute acts including, We Tried Kylie, U2 Tribe, A Tribute to Madonna – The Immaculate Collection and more to be announced soon.

110 Above Festival, Gopsall, 12-15 Aug

This intimate, indie festival is such a big hit and it’s 100% confirmed for summer 2021. They’ve already released the line-up for artists which includes Commune Stage headliners – The Amazons, Sundara Karma, Rhys Lewis, Sports Team and more. If the event can’t go ahead they’re offering a transfer or refund but they’re feeling confident and so are we!

***THEATRE***

Dial M for Murder at Curve

Ohh how I’ve missed getting my theatre fix! This season, Curve has a whole raft of great theatre – something for everyone from Anton and Giovanni’s Him and Me dance extravaganza, as well as Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Dial M for Murder starring Tom Chambers and Samantha Womack and tonnes more.

Friendsical is the 2019 Edinburgh Festival smash-hit parody musical inspired by the gang in Friends – you know, the iconic TV show! With original new songs such as (He’s her) Lobster!, Richard’s Moustache and You’re Over Me, When Were You Under Me?, the gang take on naked Thursdays, a power cut, and a dinosaur convention! What could possibly go wrong?

***MUSIC***

Scouting for Girls, DeMontfort Hall,

Scouting for Girls

Indie-pop band Scouting For Girls are bringing to stage a joyous album of 80s covers alongside some incredible new tracks. Easy Cover is a fun celebration of that golden era of music with Scouting For Girls revisiting their favourite childhood musical moments, from Tears For Fears, The Waterboys, Cyndi Lauper, Whitney Houston, Phil Collins and much more.

Drive-in Night at the Proms, Market Harborough Showground, EMDV, 4 July

A traditional Night at the Proms event but with a modern drive-in style twist! The night will bring a mix of classical pieces along with contemporary music in what will be a show-stopping evening suitable for all the family. Tickets on sale now.

Nevill Holt Opera, Market Harborough 4-25 Aug

A brand new stage is being designed to frame the sensational valley views from Nevill Holt festival this summer. Audiences can enjoy Verdi’s La traviata and Mozart’s Don Giovanni and choose whether they want to relax and spread out on picnic blankets on the lawn or from a premium spot in a covered grandstand. If that wasn’t enough they’ve even reviewed their ticket pricing so this year will be available from £35 and free for under-18s. I’ll sing to that.
