Book club: Top 5 reads for the month
It’s cold and wet and storm Doris is about to hit. You’ve already broken some of those new years resolutions that you swore you wouldn’t. There’s nothing left to do but curl up on the sofa with a cup of tea and a good book. If you’re in need of a recommendation (or five) Debbie James, manager of the Book Shop Kibworth has rounded up her top five picks to see your through this month.
The Heart’s Invisible Furies by John Boyne HB £16.99
Slated to be his best book since The Boy in The Striped Pyjamas, we can’t wait for this to come out.
The Trouble with Goats and Sheep by Joanna Cannon PB £7.99
Our bestseller for 2015 and now available in paperback. Set on one suburban street in the Midlands, it’s funny and moving. A brilliant debut and winner of a Books Are My Bag Readers award.
Verdict of Twelve by Raymond Postgate PB £8.99
The latest instalment from the British Library Crime Classics series, which we love: cosy crime from the golden age and this story is told through the eyes of the jury.
The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George PB £7.99
One of our absolute favourites about a fellow bookseller who takes his bookshop-on-a-barge on a journey along the waterways of France, starting from its mooring outside Notre Dame in Paris
The Versions of Us by Laura Barnett PB £7.99
My all time favourite book from a couple of years ago which we still manage to sell to everyone who walks through the door. One Day meets Sliding Doors
