The village has a friendly community spirit centered around Woodgate, the main shopping street and great links with neighbouring Mountsorrel.

For for a cosy and welcoming pub, you can’t beat The Blue Bell Inn. It’s got a spacious outdoor garden in the back and a lovely terrace at the front. For coffee and cake, head to Deli 1880 or family-run coffee shop, Templars of Rothley and for a Friday night curry, try Anmol Tandoori.

SHOP

Pick up a bottle of vino from artisan winemaker, Rothley Wine and you can get all your groceries from Woodcock Farm Shop. There’s home grown potatoes, fresh fruit and vegetables as well as locally sourced honey and eggs and even Christmas trees in winter. Spruce up your decor with fresh flowers from Katie Alice and for the perfect gift, head to Libby’s.

The historic Rothley Court Hotel with its sweeping driveway was originally mentioned in the Domesday Book and also associated with the Knights Templar. Head to Beacon Hill, where the kids can enjoy the ample play areas, plus plenty of cycling and walking routes. Nearby, Stonehurst Farm is where children can get up close with the farm animals and explore the adventure playground.
