Muddy tries the brand new Bio Penta Facial
A five in one facial, brand new on the market and there's only one place to try it in Leicester...so of course we had to give it a go!
Oadby has its fair share of beauty salons but Be Exquisite is run by Akila Mandhu from her home. I visited when she had just set up and she was in the middle of decorating, fast forward a few months and the place is unrecognisable.
She’s extended the space and it’s now a warm, welcoming beauty spot that’s minimalistic but comfortable plus there’s parking right outside.
Akila is super easy to talk to and immediately put me at ease. She’s a Dermalogica expert and regularly continues her skincare studies with them over in Derby.
She’s been working in the beauty industry for quite some time and spent time sharing her beauty knowledge while working in Australia. Now that her children have grown up, she wants to focus more time on growing her beauty business.
There’s low-key music on in the background but if you want complete silence Akila won’t be offended. Today I’m road testing her brand-spanking new Bio Penta machine. The machine launched in December last year and she only got it delivered in February (because of the long wait list) and I’m the second person to give it a go. She’s the only beauty therapist to have it in the city so I was really looking forward to seeing what all the fuss was about.
As far as treatment machines go, this one’s quite small and compact but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in results and we’re talking state-of-the-art stuff; a modern design with touch screen tech and so much more.
Developed by Bio-Therapeutic, the Bio Penta machine features five treatments in one unit. There’s hydradermabrasion, ultrasound, micro-sonic, micro-currant and LED light with 3 colours. The best part is that this nifty machine can combine a selection of treatments to deliver a truly bespoke facial depending on your own needs.
She was so excited to show off her new gadget and how effective it was, so I had the whole shabang. We started with hydration analyser to check the hydration of my skin, followed by pre-cleanse, and then used the micro sonic brush to clean deeper into my skin. After some face mapping (this basically means she had a closer look to see what areas of my skin needed help and boosting), she moved on to an intensive moisture cleanser and used the hydradermabrasion (done using a small object which glides over your face with no discomfort whatsoever). Apparently it is said to push the products 70-80% deeper into your skin. It also uses purified water and botanicals and is said to be the ultimate in exfoliation, as well as smoothing and tightening the skin – I could definitely use some of that.
She also used the built in LED light therapy which is helps to stimulate collagen, elastin and increases blood circulation. The light also breaks down any pesky blemishes but it was her black conductive gloves that really impressed me. These battery operated gloves use a microcurrent that warm and ‘re-educate’ the muscle of the skin. This low level electrical current is supposed to trigger the body’s natural skin enhancement chemicals at a cellular level to tone and lift the skin and penetrate the product into the skin.
Akila is totally results driven and wants to focus on getting your skin looking its best and let’s face it, if you’re going to fork out £125 for a treatment you really want the results to show and for me, they did.
I was excited to see the magic transformation after spending more than an hour with Akila and her new machine. A closer examination in the mirror and my slightly drained and dull skin was now looking radiant – in fact by the time I walked out of her salon, I was positively glowing.
For best results, Akila recommends getting regular treatments so is offering all Muddy readers five treatments for the price of four, just quote MUDDY when booking.
