Anti-ageing and what to do

Dr. Natasha Ranga is a fully qualified GP who specialises in anti-ageing treatments. We popped into her Leicester clinic for a cup of tea and chat and she gave us the low down on anti-ageing and what treatments she offers to  keep the glow for as long as possible.

In your 20’s

High SPF is your skin’s best friend so choose an SPF 30 or above as this will help protect your skin from sun damage and fine lines. A healthy lifestyle is also important, so stay away from smoking, alcohol, and remember to take your make up off daily. Start as early as you can and form good habits as these will have huge benefits in your early years.

The most effective treatment at this age is the highly effective NeoElegance LED light therapy. LED (light-emitting diode) lights stimulate cells and kick-start a number of processes which can help rejuvenate the skin by stimulating cells which produce collagen and slowing down the production of enzymes (which break down collagen and make older skin lose its elasticity). It speeds cell production, making skin regenerate faster which in turn creates fresher-looking complexions.

In your 30-40’s

Sorry to say but by your late 20’s the ageing process has already started! Collagen stores throughout your body are depleting and they are not being replenished and unfortunately, a cream is just not going to cut it. In this age group you’ll start to see problematic areas – wrinkles and loose sagging skin. If you want to treat these areas, Botox™ is popular for wrinkles and there are dermal fillers for the face and then there is PDO Threads which is a popular non-surgical skin lifting treatment that lifts and tightens the skin.

In your 50’s

The ageing process from your 30s and 40s progress into your 50’s and tend to become more visible. We advise more combination treatments including non-surgical facelifts with dermal fillers and also the occasional body treatments for loose skin on the neck, arms, and décolletage. The latest anti-ageing trend is using high-frequency for a skin smoothing and lifting results.  The lipo-firm pro machine is an excellent head to toe treatment with Tri-polar technology to lift loose skin all over the body but with aesthetic medicine, age related changes will require a diverse range of treatments.
