3 things to try this week
Looking for creative ways to spend the next few days? Let me help.
Let your creative juices flow with a creative ‘Crafternoon’ session with The Curator Educator. This small, nonprofit organisation is dedicated to developing creative opportunities for everyone in the local community. It’s a brilliant initiative run by Sophia Kyprianou who’s been hosting the sessions locally but since lockdown, has had to take the classes online.
Each afternoon sess focuses on a specific craft and so far Sophia has made everything from mini journals to salt dough. The emphasis is on using creativity as a way of dealing with some mental health issues and improving your general wellbeing. The Crafternoon sessions run every Tuesday 2-3pm via Facebook.
Picnic Pop Up, Leicester
Lap up the last of the summer rays over at the Picnic Pop Up on Green Dragon Square. “Where’s that” you ask? Previously known as New Market Square, it’s the square situated between Knight and Garter and Leicester Market. Perch on a picnic table and tuck into your lunch or get a delivery service sent straight to the main entrance so it will be waiting for you on arrival. Open every day from 11am – 7pm. Sit back, relax, eat and enjoy.
Rockingham Castle Outdoor Cinema 11 – 12 Sept
Head to the gorgeous surroundings of Rockingham Castle to take part in their annual outdoor film weekend. Get your dancing shoes on and book tickets to watch the timeless musical Grease on Sat 11 Sept orThe Greatest Showman on Sun 12 Sept. Bring a picnic and share the fun with friends and family. Light refreshments avail to buy. Films start at 8pm. Don’t be late.
Psst, listen out for me every Saturday morning on BBC Radio Leicester where I’ll be giving you more recommendations of things to do.
